Our Many Gifts. Today’s Gift: Uniqueness
I’ve been traveling a good bit these days, and I think about the impact my absence has on those around me. Or more to the point, the impact I bring to others when I am with them.
Certainly there are many people who “fill-in” while we’re away. Maybe you have a neighbor who picks up your mail and waters your lawn, a pet sitter who takes care of your furry companions, or a co-worker who does double duty while you’re away.
It’s not that they couldn’t get along without us. As I’ve just indicated, they can pick up the ‘work’ and keep going. Really, it’s more about what we – you and I - bring to our relationships; and that’s what can’t be replaced.
You are a unique individual with all your wonderful and quirky ways. It’s you who brings a smile to your friend’s face when she’s at rock bottom. And it’s you who inspires the ball team with your special words of encouragement. You may be the one with the gentle touch that holds a neighbor’s hand when he suffers a personal loss. The distinctive touches you bring into the day often impact others in ways you may never know.
You are someone special. And there is no one else in the world like you.
Remember that when someone comes into your life, it is a gift, a blessing. Likewise, your presence in another person’s life is a gift, a blessing to him or her. You are important to them. And no matter how many tasks someone else can perform in your absence, no one else can replace you.
How will you celebrate your uniqueness today?
Have a Golden Day!
