Gratitude – The Elixir for What Ails You.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

It is so easy to become a victim of the “wants” and to always be seeking our next accomplishment that we lose sight of what we already have. Particularly in the U.S., where everyone is relatively prosperous (relative to the rest of the world), our 80 pairs of shoes, 6 televisions, our multiple cars and other “things” become like an addiction for us. How much is enough?
When we let go of all the “wants,” we leave room to appreciate all that we have.
Do you know others who are frustrated because they’re not making the money they think they should be making? Or do you know someone who grumbles about not being able to afford the fancier home?
Perhaps you recognize yourself in those examples. Do you find yourself measuring your own progress against everyone else’s?
I invite you to go sit in a secluded corner and gift yourself with 10 minutes. In this quiet space, with no one else intruding into your thoughts, take these few moments and re-discover all the areas in your life for which you are grateful. Do you have shelter? Be thankful. Are you employed? Be appreciative. Do you have your health? Priceless.
By becoming more aware of everything for which you can be grateful, you raise your level of well-being. And the more enriched you feel, the easier it is to raise that rating on the scale of 1 to 10. I have found that a daily dose of gratitude cures my restlessness and frustrations that occasionally seep into my life. And I can just about guarantee that if you bring gratefulness into your day, your rating on that scale will go up a notch or two!
There is nothing wrong with dreaming and picturing life in a bigger frame. That’s healthy and natural. It’s equally as important to keep sight of how far you’ve come and what is working well for you. These are the gifts. After all, the present is all we really have anyway, isn’t it?
If you're inclined to reflect back on 2007 and all that you have accomplished, go grab my FRE'E gift to you. Don't be bashful!
Warmest wishes to you and yours,
Darlene
