Celebrating the Season - SUMMER

Early on, as we plant the seeds and place the small plants in our garden, we have a vision of what we want our yards and nature sanctuaries to look like. We engage all of our senses to picture the colors, to smell the fragrances and to hear the sounds of our sacred space. It’s fun to watch things grow and to nurture them along.

And then, somehow, before we know it, our special “space” seems to grow out of control. Some plants are wilting and dying away. Did we plant them in a place that gets too much sun – or not enough? Weeds start showing up, or perhaps there is a parched area here and there. We realize our great intentions often require more time and attention than we had originally planned.

So what do you do? Do you pull up everything and start over? Do you ignore it and hope it will go away? Do you swap it all out for fake flowers and plants to minimize the maintenance? Or do you savor the time spent in your sanctuary, feeling grateful for its bounty and for giving you an opportunity to engage, prune and continue to shape its beauty?

Think about your answer to that situation.

Is that also how you approach your day-to-day living as well? Are there areas in your life that need some shaping and thinning out so that other areas may flourish? Is there something that is not working out and you need to consider new options?

Look around your garden. Are there some plants that are thriving right now and all you need to do in this moment is to breathe in enjoy their beauty? What a wonderful reward!

Is there an area in your life that is, well . . .perfect . . . and you simply want to acknowledge that aspect and savor it?

If you were to select one area of your life that, today, is calling for your attention, what would it be? How will you answer the call?

Celebrate this season of your life with the gusto and energy found in Summer. And know that what you tend to today, in your personal garden, will determine what you reap in the months and years ahead.

Have a Golden Day!
