Attracting Business in a Tight Market: Part 3 - Volunteering

To read earlier entries in this series:

1.      The importance of our attitudes.

2.      Connecting with others.

VOLUNTEERING – When business is slow, it is a great time to get involved in your community. You’ve got some breathing room now, so why not expend it in a way that contributes to the well being of others?

When we authentically give from the heart, we take the focus away from our worries and wants, and generously put the focus on the needs of others. We find a renewed sense of purpose when we share our abundance with others.

There are hundreds of ways you can share your expertise and your time for some very important causes. Take a few moments and think about those areas of your life about which you are most passionate. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:

  • Are you concerned about literacy? Then volunteer for a literacy program and help another adult learn to read. Spend some time at the Boys & Girls Club and mentor a child.
  • Do you love animals? There are probably several volunteer-run animal shelters or similar programs in your city or town – they can always use some help.
  • Do you enjoy being around the elderly? Volunteer to sit or read or entertain in some way.
  • Do you love being surrounded by books in a peaceful setting? Perhaps you can help file papers or place books on the shelves at the library.

By volunteering, you are giving back into the society that has supported you. It’s the natural way of things. And, there is the obvious side benefit to this. By taking action and placing ourselves into new situations, we meet new people and are introduced into new circles of opportunity for our business.

Share your talents and gifts. When I give from the heart, my experience has been that I am filled many times over – and in ways I had not expected. It’s when we are most authentic and genuine that amazing energies are stirred. And that’s when a new cycle begins for us.

Have a Golden Day!
