FRIDAY – JUST FOR FUN

It's Friday, time to wind down and let all our stress of the week slink away.

Sometimes, when you feel frazzled, your mind is numb (read that: void of ideas), and you’re just, plain tired, it’s difficult to feel creative.

When this happens to me, I’ve found one sure-fire way to ease the tension and worry of writing "right."

I simply acknowledge how I’m feeling and allow myself this time to “exhale” all the heaviness I’m carrying around. If writing is on my agenda at this moment, then I give myself permission to put away my serious projects and just write playfully. It’s OK to be silly, carefree and totally outlandish.

Occasionally, by allowing my Creative Mind to really play, I come up with some terrific pieces that can be used elsewhere.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT:

Your assignment today is to just let go and get crazy with your writing!

Do you have an “idea jar?” I keep one handy, and it's filled with slips of paper – each one contains a descriptive noun. I pull out three of them and then write a story about them. Here are the three that I pulled out tonight to share with you:  a mountain trail, a man’s Rolex® watch, and three unopened bottles of champagne.

Write a captivating scene using these 3 items.

Happy Writing!
