MONEY MATTERS: 20 Questions to Test Your Retirement Readiness

As a life coach, I work with clients who are ready to move forward in their lives, who want to embrace change and who are ready to face some tough truths about themselves. We explore any number of life areas: career, relationships, time management, personal growth. A common discussion in our private sessions centers around their relationship with money.

In some cases, perhaps a client has not yet taken the necessary steps to build a solid foundation for the future. In other cases, there might be clients who are moving along nicely with their plan, but who now want to examine other ways to increase their prosperity.  Where are you in this spectrum?

Each of us has differing opinions, expectations, and fears about money. Let’s face it – it’s a complex topic. Even the financial planners change their model from time to time to indicate how much is “enough.”  It doesn’t require that we be financial geniuses in order to have a rosy picture for our future . . . but it does require persistence and patience . . . and an understanding of how to use the tools made available to us.

The current thinking is that you will likely have to have almost as much on an annual basis as you currently earn now – in order to live the same level of comfort and lifestyle to which you are accustomed.  What?” you say? “How can I ever retire if I’m going to need this much money in my later years?

It’s a scary thought at times, isn’t it? Getting there is not impossible; it just gets tougher the older we get, because we have fewer years in which we can accumualte wealth.

This 20-question quiz will give you some ideas about what your retirement planning strengths are, or where a concentrated effort may be necessary to get you back on track.

Regardless of where you are in the investment and retirement spectrum, I encourage you to explore coaching as an alternative to help you take those next steps.

Have a golden day!
Coach Darlene
