TIP #1 for overcoming Writer's Block - Move!
We last talked about the inevitable "Writer's Block," and my opinion that it is merely our friendly Muse tapping us awake to tell us there is something wrong with the piece we're working on.
If you also face occasional writing "stumbles," Here is a tip for you.
Create Movement
If we think of this turmoil as "chaos," then the best medicine I can suggest is "movement." When I find myself at a loss for words - the right words - to put on a page, I allow myself a short span of time to work with the struggle. And then, if nothing has happened to move me forward, I move ME. That's right. I get up, walk around. Sometimes I'll take a swift walk around the block. Go do a load of laundry. Work on another project.
The reason for this activity is that my powerful mind and Creative Self have some work to do. While they are sorting out the details, I'm giving them a break and leaving them alone. Something is amiss and my mind needs to bring order back to the chaos.
Imagine a box full of children's building blocks that have been tumbled onto the floor (chaos), and they need to be stacked in an appropriate order. Maybe the child doesn't know the order, maybe he does. Maybe she's making up her own order (making new rules). Either way, the child know the blocks have to be stacked up again (order).
Have a plan for yourself that you can execute when Writer's Block visits you. Learn to recognize it truthfully (make sure it's not Procrastination setting in!) and then choose some "movement' activities that work for you.
Happy Writing!

The "get up and move" idea is an excellent recommendation. Taking a walk lets you look at nature and observe different surroundings besides that of your office or home. I also find that walking on the beach helps clear the mind. Great article!!

Hey - nice blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I'm currently using Wordpress for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would rcommend about it?
